Utility trenching is coordination work
A trench can be dug quickly. The useful work is confirming the route, depth, separation, bedding, inspection timing and what must remain accessible for the licensed utility trade.
C&H provides excavation support for underground utility work. We coordinate with the project plans and the trade responsible for the line or conduit, then open, prepare and backfill the route according to the agreed scope.
REVIEW THE UTILITY ROUTE
Underground utility excavation support
The proposal should separate excavation responsibilities from electrical, plumbing, communications or utility-company work.
Trenching and access
Open the specified route while managing equipment access, spoil and nearby improvements.
Bedding and crossings
Prepare the trench bottom and specified material around pipe or conduit, including planned crossings.
Backfill and restoration
Coordinate inspection, place approved backfill and restore the surface to the agreed condition.
Public right-of-way, utility easements and franchise utilities can require separate permits and coordination. Oregon 811 locates public utilities; private lines may need a separate locating service.
Existing neighborhoods leave little room for guesses
Lake Oswego’s established properties can have decades of utilities, additions and landscaping under a narrow work area. Surface marks are a starting point, not permission to ignore plans, private lines or potholing requirements.
Work in public right-of-way or public utility easements requires City coordination. We keep the excavation scope tied to the approved route, inspection sequence and restoration plan.
