LOCAL SERVICE. PRACTICAL PLANNING.

A rock driveway is a drainage system with tire tracks

The visible rock is only the top layer. A dependable gravel driveway starts with the subgrade, enough base material, usable crown or cross-slope and a route for runoff. If those pieces are skipped, adding another thin layer of rock usually buys a short pause, not a lasting fix.

We evaluate soft spots, potholes, rutting, shoulders and water movement before recommending repair or rebuilding. Sometimes regrading and new surface rock is enough. Other times the weak base needs to be opened and corrected.

WHAT THE WORK CAN INCLUDE

Rock Driveways scope

  • New gravel driveway construction
  • Driveway regrading and reshaping
  • Base repair for soft or rutted areas
  • Rock placement and compaction
  • Drainage and culvert coordination

Every property is different. The estimate should spell out access, excavation, material, hauling, compaction, restoration and any work handled by another licensed trade. That gives you a number you can actually use.

ALBANY SITE CONDITIONS

Plan around water, access and approvals

Albany’s rainy season can expose low spots and weak edges quickly. The driveway should shed water without sending it toward buildings or eroding neighboring areas. Existing culverts, ditch flow and the connection to the public road also need to be considered.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Albany rock driveway work FAQs

Can you fix potholes without rebuilding the driveway?

Sometimes. If the base is stable, regrading and adding the correct material may work. Repeated potholes often point to drainage or base failure.

What rock should I use?

The answer depends on whether you need base, surface, drainage or a blend. We recommend material by function, not just by what is cheapest per ton.

Can you improve driveway drainage too?

Yes. We can evaluate surface grade, ditches and culvert needs as part of the project scope.
